Track and Field Compete on Day One of Emory Spring Break Classic

ATLANTA - Outdoor track and field headed up the road to Emory to compete in day one of the Emory Spring Break Classic.

Women's Highlights:

Malysha Winston took fifth in the hammer with a throw of 44.61m (out of a pool of 57 competitors)
Kris Williams and Madi Duke took fourth and sixth in the high jump at 1.55m
In the 400m hurdles, junior Macy Murdock took fourth with a time of 1:03.41, a new season best and teammate Josie Loggins finished 14^th out of a pool of 47 competitors
Freshman, Lucy Nicholson broke Berry's school record in the 200m with a time of 25.65, also a new lifetime PR
Senior, Anna Rose took 2^nd out of 24 in the 1500 invitational with a time of 4:41.85, right behind the first-place finisher. Olivia Lambert and Anna Ayers both ran lifetime PR's in the event
In the 3000 steeplechase, Katie Frankman ran a PR to finish 7^th (12:58.36)
Sydney Howard and Erin Schmidt shined in the 5000m open with Howard setting a new PR at 19:32.02 to take first and Schmidt finishing 2^nd at 19:37.36. Sophomore Kyle Kitchens-Hayes took 10^th in the event.
Emma Lambert took 10^th in the 5000m invitational at 18:53.56
Cortney Brown finished second in the javelin and Sadie Phillips placed6th tying her PR of 34.94m while Macy Murdock took 8th

Men's Highlights:

Marcus Wilson had a new lifetime PR in the 400m hurdles at 56.53 to finish 13^th overall
Sophomore, Tucker Wright finished third overall in the 1500m invitational (3:58.11) in a close race for the top spot with T Harris taking 7^th at 4:00.52
In the 3000 steeplechase, Joey Kowalczewski and Gianpaolo Longo went third and fourth, respectively with times of 10:06.43 and 10:07.81 with Gabe McCary right behind them for a ninth-place finish (10:49.48)
In the 5000m invitational, Troy Blackwood and Brooks Johnson finished 6^th and 10^th with times of 15:13.82 and 15:17.15 and in the 5000m open Braden Hobbs took 7^th while Nico Klementzos finished 10th.

The team will return to Emory tomorrow for day two.
