DANVILLE, Ky. - Berry's men and women track teams hit the road the Centre College to compete, with the women claiming the victory and the men finishing fourth.
After a challenging weather week for the Vikings, cold weather could not stop them from getting better. Both teams hit to the indoor track at Centre to show off and represent Rome with two high finishes.
Women's Highlights:
The women won the meet with 108 total points, defeating 17 other teams. Multiple school records were broken in the following:
Long Jump - Macy Murdock, 3rd place (5.36m)
300m - Julianne Shirley (a freshman), 5th place (44.82)
60m - Lucy Nicholson (a freshman), 5th place (8.05)
High Jump - Kris Williams, 1st place (1.61m)

Lucy Nicholson - 3rd in the 200m (27.04)
Macy Murdock - 3rd in Long Jump (5.36m)

Avery Jones - 2nd in Weight Throw (14.16m)
Macy Murdock scored 20 of the team's 108 points with strong finishes. Her first place in the 400m, third in the long jump with a school record, and then a lifetime PR in the 60m Hurdles placing 4th overall, pushed her team tremendously in the right direction. She now leads the SAA with her times in the 400m and 60H.
The women's field events captured 75 points for the Vikings, 48 coming from jumps with Kris Williams leading the way in her new school record and first place finish in the high jump. Head coach Luke Syverson is particularly proud and honored to have assistant coach Lydia Ulrich leading the way in jumps. He states, "Coach Ulrich's jumpers and sprinters accounted for 5 of the 6 records broken today.
She has done a great job developing and supporting her athletes going into this season and I am excited to see what they continue to accomplish."
In the field the women's vaulters went 1-2-3, led by Madeline Hubbert and Winston captured the title in the weight throw with Jones right behind her for support.
Men's Highlights:
The men finished fourth overall, falling to Campbellsville, Centre, and Tennessee Wesleyan with 58 points. They broke two school records along the way:
300m - James Keith III, 13th (38.67)
Pole Vault - Alden McDonald, 1st (5.00m)
TOP FINISHES:
Braden Hobbs - 2nd in the 1000m (2:44.32)
Ethan Smith - 1st in the 3000m (9:01.21)
Troy Blackwood - 3rd in the 3000m (9:07.65)
Alden McDonald - 1st in Pole Vault (5.00m)
McDonald won the Pole Vault with a new lifetime PR, school record and became the only Viking ever to reach the 5.00 mark. He is ranked No. 4 in the nation for Division III and his mark will qualify him for the NCAA Indoor Championship held in New York this March.
Ethan Smith had the only other first place finish for the Vikings in the 3000m, taking down all opponents.
Berry Track and Field will return to action on Saturday, February 1 at the Sewanee Tiger Indoor Open.
