LA VERNE, Calif. — The Berry College baseball team began their California trip with a 13-8 win over La Verne University on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Vikings scored early in the game with three runs in the top of the first inning off of RBIs from Devin Skelton, Casey Whitaker and Tyler Calvert.
• Berry added additional runs off of La Verne errors, leading going into the bottom of the seventh inning 7-2.
• The Leopards countered in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run homer, followed by a single to move the score to 7-6.
• The Vikings finished out the game scoring four runs in the top of the ninth to ensure the 13-8 victory.
• Overall, the Vikings outhit the Leopards 16-10.
