BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Emma Cook had 12 points, but the Berry College women's basketball team fell to Birmingham-Southern College, 60-49, on Friday night.
The loss dropped the Vikings to 8-14 overall and 2-9 in the Southern Athletic Association. The win improved the Panthers to 13-6 and 11-0.
Cook's 12 points led the BC offensive effort. She was 5-of-16 from the field and sank two three-pointers. She also grabbed seven rebounds in the loss.
Imani Smith added nine points in the win. Smith shot 3-of-7 from the field, as well as 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She also sank one three-pointer and passed two assists for the Vikes.
Christine Cerezola and Rosie Lynch each grabbed seven rebounds as well.
BSC led 32-21 at the half.
For the Panthers, Jasmynn Batts scored 17 points in the win. Batts was 6-of-11 from the field, sank two three-pointers and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
Berry led Birmingham-Southern in rebounds (44-42) and blocks (7-2). The Panthers shot 35.8-percent (19-of-53) to the Vikings' 29.8-percent (17-of-57). BSC forced 18 BC turnovers to their 12.
Berry travels to Jackson, Mississippi for their next SAA match-up on Sunday, Feb. 14 against Millsaps College. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
