Berry Women's Golf in Fifth Place at MCC Event

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Berry College women's golf team fired a first round 333 at the MCC Women's Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Vikings are in fifth place of nine teams heading to Monday's final round at the Montgomery Country Club.

Lauren Van Streain shot an 81 to lead the Vikings. Her plus-eight score has her in 10th place. 

Sewanee recorded a 310 tally and has a nine stroke lead on host Huntingdon. Emily Javidi of Sewanee carded a 70 and has a four-stroke lead for medalist honors.

Other Berry scoring: Alex Hudson, 83, T16; Sydney Weaver, 84, T24; Erin Bruner, 85, T27; Karley Hammond, 89, T43. Viking Ally Smith played as an individual and shot 90 and is in 45th place.

The final round is Monday on the par 73, 5821-yard course.
