Jerningan wins SAA weekly award; Tuesday game time 5 p.m.

ATLANTA -- The SAA released the baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played April 14-20 and Berry's Ben Jernigan captured the pitcher honor.

Jernigan recorded 16 strikeouts and had a complete game shutout as Berry College won at Centre College, 4-0, on Friday night. With the win, the Vikings clinched second place in the SAA and will host a four-team conference tournament semifinal next weekend. Jernigan improved to 8-3, scattered three hits and allowed just one walk. The sophomore from Atlanta forced seven ground-outs and four Colonels flew-out in the contest. The 16 strikeouts ties the most by any NCAA Division III pitcher this year and is a record for Berry since the Vikings transitioned to Division III.

Prior to the SAA Tournament, the Vikings close regular season play on Tuesday vs. Maryville. Game time was moved to 5 p.m.
