Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – Megan Walsh scored a game-high 21 points as Berry College won at Hendrix University, 83-75, on Sunday. Walsh was 6-12 shooting, made all nine free throws, recorded four blocks and had 10 rebounds for BC.
The Vikings improved to 6-6 and 1-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Warriors fell to 7-7 and 1-2.
Three other Vikings reached double figures in the game. Chanlir Segarra had 19 points and six assists. Emma Cook tallied 18 and secured a team-best 11 rebounds. Mel McLean earned the team's third double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Eight of the nine Vikings who played scored in the game.
"I'm proud of the way we played today," said Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "On offense, we need those four to produce for us. I thought we kept them off-balance on defense."
The Warriors started the game with a 6-0 run. The Vikings heated up and took its first lead, 14-12, after a jumper from Valerie McLure with 13:13 left in the opening half.
Berry led at the break, 48-34. Berry outshot HC 50-percent to 34-percent and went on an 18-6 run over the last 4:19 to close the half.
Hendrix continued to chip away at Berry but never got closer than four points. HC's Anna King had a chance to reduce the margin to three-points, but she missed an old fashioned three-point play with 14 seconds left. Marissa Ivey and Cook, however, converted late free throws to pull away.
Caitlyn Kriesel-Biegler paced Hendrix with 18 points. Jamie Tate grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds. The home club led in rebounds, 50-46.
Berry travels to play at Agnes Scott on Wednesday night.
