Box Score 2 CLINTON, Miss. -- The Berry College baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader on Saturday by scores of 11-2 and 3-2.
In game one, Berry started out fast by scoring two runs in the first inning. TC Boyd (2-4, run) led off the game with a single through the left side. With one out, Steven Gaylor (2-3, run) singled. Both runners advanced on a passed ball before Alex McGill singled to center to score both Vikings.
The Choctaws busted out with five runs in the third inning--four off of starter and losing pitcher Levi Austin. The home club plated three runs in both the fifth and sixth frames.
Hunter Fierson and Josh Perez both collected three hits for Mississippi College.
Will Heard went 2-3 for the Vikes.
In the nightcap, Berry again scored in the first inning. Boyd was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Zach Farmer ground out.
The Choctaws (2-3) plated three runs in the fourth inning off Ryan O'Connell, who took the loss.
The Vikings added another tally in the seventh when Boyd singled to drive in Ryan Smith who reached on a base hit. Boyd was 3-4 with a run and an RBI in the contest.
Berry (2-3) returns home to face Bates College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
