Vikings Salvage Split With 6-5 Win Over Huntingdon; Hawks Win Opener 3-1

Berry's Cason Dremann collected two hits and drove in a run and the Vikings received solid pitching from Cameron Rich and Trent Hillis in a 6-5 victory over Huntingdon in the second game of a doubleheader at Berry's William R. Bowdoin Field Saturday.

Huntingdon won the first game 3-1.

Stephen Gaylor was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the victory for Berry (12-16 overall). Austin Neely also scored twice, while Jonathan Stump and Will Heard joined Dremann in driving in a run.

Meanwhile, Rich (2-2) scattered nine hits in six and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs. He struck out four batters and walked one en route to the victory.

Hillis picked up the save, his first of the season, by tossing two and one-third innings of shutout ball. The righthander allowed two hits, walked two batters and struck out two.

Huntingdon starter Cory Belyeu was tagged with the loss. He allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in just one and one-third innings.

Joseph Odem drove in three runs in the game for the Hawks.

In the opener, a seven-inning affair, Huntingdon pitcher Grant Lowman allowed just four hits in a complete-game effort. Two of Berry's hits came off Dremann's bat.

TC Boyd and Will Heard collected Berry's other hits, and Heard drove in Berry's lone run.

Lowman fanned five batters and walked one.

Levi Austin threw all seven innings for Berry, and took the loss despite a solid outing. Austin allowed two earned runs on seven hits. He struck out six batters without walking anyone.

Seth Currie went 2-for-3 for the Hawks, and Jordan Freeman and Evan Agnew each drove in a run for Huntingdon.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Friday, when it hosts Tennessee Temple at 3 p.m.
