MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Despite the weather delay, the Berry Vikings had a dominant display against the Huntingdon Hawks winning 5-0. After a tough but respectable effort against Emory, the Vikings were able to rebound and find their way back to victory at Bob Pearson Field.
The game began, and it took no more than two minutes for Gianna Maimone to open the scoring by giving the team her fourth goal of the season to make it 1-0.
The Vikings continued their early game dominance, with Maimone managing to find the back of the net once again in the eighth minute to double the lead. This would mark her fifth goal of the season. The Vikings maintained that lead for the rest of the half.
The second half did not start with the intensity the first did, but despite that, the Vikings would not give the Hawks anything to work with. It would not be until the 78th minute where the Vikings would convert their third goal of the game. Laina Engelbart found the back of the net, her third of the season, and it was assisted by Anne Adams.
Two minutes later, they once again would found the back of the net with Anna Robbins bagging her second goal of the season.
In the dying moments of the game, Giselle Aitken would receive a ball across the box from Maimone off an incredible solo run, to seal the deal with a 5-0 win. This would mark Aitken's fourth goal of the season and the 5th and final goal of the match.
The Vikings travel to Ewing, New Jersey to play against The College Of New Jersey Lions on Saturday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m.
