MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A warm day on the road set the stage for a high level clash between the Berry Vikings and the Rhodes Lynx. Both teams were looking to pick up a win to better their standings in the scope of the SAA conference. However, the Vikings fell short to the Lynx 2-0 for their first conference defeat this season.
The first half was brought in with high energy from the Lynx, and they eventually would convert a counter attacking chance in the 31st minute to give themselves the advantage. The half would close out and the Vikings were trailing.
The second half was not much different. The Vikings played with more hunger, but in the end it would not be enough as the Lynx managed to score another goal in the 82nd minute to put the nail in the coffin, securing their 2-0 victory.
Despite the loss, Cooper Cherry made five saves in net to keep the Vikings in the match for most of the afternoon. On offense, Daniel Osho and Tyler Whitaker both tied for the team lead in shots with two. As for the Lynx, Luke Grant and Evan Holsinger each had one goal, while Henri Kettner and Ben Novello each had one assist. Kettner also got the win in net with three saves.
The Vikings play on the road once again in Jackson, Mississippi for their next game against the Millsaps Majors on Sunday, October 11 at 12:00 p.m.
