MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - After a very deserved victory on the road on Saturday, the Berry Vikings used their newly found momentum to strike down the LaGrange Panthers right on Bob Pearson Field with a powerful 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon.
It took less than five minutes for the Vikings (4-1-3) to capitalize on their first opportunity after a Panther (2-2-4) handball in the penalty area set up a crucial early penalty kick. Jack Raulston converted, burying the shot into the left side of the net to give Berry a 1-0 lead.
At the 14-minute mark, Alex Guzman displayed a dangerous strike. Like a video game, the ball ricocheted off the Panther's goalkeeper and fell into the foot of Max Albertson. A routine finish for Albertson put the Vikings up 2-0 early in the match.
In the 25th minute, Berry extended its lead when Mitch Register set up Alex Forrand, who finished cleanly into the back of the net for a 3-0 advantage and firm control of the half.
The Vikings maintained their intense efforts throughout the second half of the game. At the 76th minute, freshman Seamus Ladner scored from a pass from Tim Ratokhin that ultimately put the nail in the Panther's coffin.
The Vikings will look to carry the moment into next Tuesday as they match up against the Huntington Hawks at Bob Pearson Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
