GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Berry College Vikings begin their stay in Greensboro with a win against the Meredith College Avenging Angels with the final score 2-1.
The Vikings were in full control of the first half, getting off to a hot start with
Nicole Knight pushing the pace to score a goal only two minutes into the contest. The Berry attack was unrelenting and coordinated, going two for three on shots after another goal from
Emily Walsh, eighteen minutes into the game. The Vikings couldn't add to their lead as the half continued, but they completely shut out the Angels in the first half, preventing them from even attempting a shot. The Vikings entered halftime with the score at 2-0.
Unsatisfied with their 2-0 lead, the Vikings entered the second half shooting at will, recording five shots within the first five minutes of the half. Despite this onslaught, Meredith scored the first goal of the half with fifty-five minutes on the clock. The Angels had plenty of time left to put together a possession to tie up the score, but that goal was the only shot the Angels had for the half. The Vikings held firm and controlled the ball for the remainder of the game winning 2-1.
The Vikings remain on the road to face off against the Greensboro College Pride Sunday, September 14th at 12:00 p.m.
