Raulston's Late Winner Gives Vikings 1-0 Win

MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Berry College Vikings treated their fans to a win as they broke their three-game tie streak against the LeTourneau Yellowjackets in their home opener with the final score 1-0.

Defense was the blueprint in the first half.
The Yellowjackets swarmed the Vikings, their six fouls an indication of their physical defense, only allowing Berry to attempt two shots in the half. Despite their stifling defense, the Yellowjackets couldn't turn it into an advantage, as the Vikings put together several key plays of their own to keep the Yellowjackets scoreless in the first half. Cooper Cherry held down the goal for the home team, earning two saves in the half. Jack Raulston tried to get some points for the Vikings, owning both of Berry's shots in the half, but both teams entered halftime with nothing on the board.

Looking to go up, Berry came out of halftime forcing the issue. They had the Yellowjackets on their heels, putting up six shots in the half. LeTourneau wouldn't give, giving up their offense to keep the Vikings scoreless. With four minutes left, it seemed like the game was destined to end in a tie. The Yellowjackets made a save and cleared the ball back to the Vikings. The ball made its way up the field, where it found Addofo El Bey along the sideline. With a chance to finally break the tie, the Auburn native found Jack Raulston in the right place at the right time, as he completed a header into the goal to finally put the Vikings up 1-0. The door was still open to a tie continuing down the stretch when the Vikings failed to put the exclamation point on the match, but with no gas left in the tank, the Yellowjackets couldn't put together a response, and the Vikings kept it away to steal a victory.

The Vikings
remain at home as they look to extend their streak against the Emory Eagles tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
