GULF SHORES, Ala. - After day one of the AVCA Small College Beach Championships, the Vikings swept both Southern Virginia and Hendrix to advance to the semifinals.

There were two 3-0 sweeps on the day under the sun in Alabama. 

First up was Southern Virginia with the 2-4 pairs getting it done before the one and fives even began play.

2. Ailee England and Keira Kruk defeated Bailee Savage and Callie Tuckfield 21-13, 21-5
3. Kara Schmit and Madie Whitehead defeated Emily Peterson and Mikki Prows 21-1, 21-13
4. Kat Kelyman and Grace Mau defeated Charity Elam and Bryn Keeling 21-13, 21-17

Against Hendrix, it was the 3-5 pairs sweeping the Warriors with individual pair scores below:

3. Kara Schmit and Madie Whitehead defeated Liz Roy and Jaxie Tillman 21-8, 21-15
4. Kat Kelyman and Grace Mau defeated Perri Evans and Lilly Meyer 21-18, 21-14
5. Andrea Hurt and Lilly Teagle defeated Kailey Carrico and Riley Skief 21-13, 21-15

With these wins, the Vikings will take on the winner of the Huntingdon - Hendrix dual and play at 12:00 PM ET and the winner of the semifinal game will play in the championship game at 2:20 PM ET.
