LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Vikings concluded the D3 South Region Invitational facing off against host team, LaGrange and falling 9-2.
The Berry pitching staff saw five faces tonight,
Mason Snyder with the start and throwing a complete five innings before the relief from
Mason Schoonover,
Aubrey Higgins,
Cole Porter, and
Tyler Cassidy saw the mound.
At the plate,
Joey Garcia led the team going 2-3 scoring two runs with one stolen base. Things looked up for Berry as they scored the first run in the top of the first with a RBI single from
Andrew Pendleton, but LaGrange answered quickly in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.Â
Leaving three runners on a the end of the first was the name of the game for Berry as they struggled to boost them across home plate, stranding 9 the entire game while the Panthers went on to score.
By the bottom of the fourth, LaGrange had scored four more runs and had the 5-1 lead before Garcia crossed the plate for the second and final time of the night (5-2).
The score stayed stagnant through the top of the eighth until LaGrange scored four runs on three hits to take the win as the Vikings were unable to answer in the top of the final inning.
Berry will return home to take on Brandeis this Tuesday at 3:00 PM ET
