MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry College Baseball Coach David Beasley has named Jackson Cherry the program's new assistant coach.

Cherry is a native of Forest, VA and is the son David and Kimberley Cherry and has a younger brother, Aidan. Jackson started his baseball career at Jefferson Forest High School where he played under University of Virginia Hall of Fame coach Ryan Gilleland. While there he helped the team to two semifinalist appearances in Region 4D while being named 2018 First Team All-State, 2019 Second Team All-State, 2018 and 2019 First Team Roanoke Times and 2018 and 2019 First Team All-4A West Region.

Cherry then went on to play college baseball at Mercer University (2021-2024) and Virginia Tech (2025) where he continued to excel being named SoCon Hitter of the Week, Second Team All-SoCon in 2023, First Team Pre-Season All-SoCon in 2024 and ACC All-Academic in 2025. He finished his career with 38 home runs and 28 career doubles in 451 at bats while graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from Mercer University. He is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
