LAGRANGE, Ga. - In the Vikings opening game of the D3 South Region Invitational hosted by LaGrange College, Berry took on No. 20 Adrian, falling 7-1.
On the mound for Berry throwing a complete five innings was
Jackson Collett. In the top of the first Adrian's single scored a run before the Vikings could get out of the inning.
After that there was a stagnant three innings with both teams only able to get off two hits apiece. Adrian opened back up the scoring in the top of the fifth off a single through the right side, going up 2-0.
Cole Porter entered the game in relief of Collett at the top of the sixth and Adrian's bats got hot. Two errors and two hits garnered four runs for the top 20 team before
Jon Strydom took the mound to end the top of the inning down 6-0.
The Vikings lone run came from a
Riley Uhls homer in the 7
th over the left field fence, for the day he was 2-4 along with SAA Player of the Week,
Joey Garcia.
Adrian answered with a run of their own in the following inning and held off the Vikings to secure the 7-1 win.
Berry will continue play at LaGrange College tomorrow against Pfeiffer at 3:30 PM ET.
