MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The second seeded Vikings fell to Sewanee in game one of the SAA Tournament this afternoon.
A quite first three innings for both teams showed the competitiveness in the Southern Athletic Association tournament.Â
Both teams' defenses were shutting things down, and for the Vikings that was with
Charles Stephenson on the mound.
The game took a turn in the fifth as the Tigers posted five runs, led by a three-run homer to spark their energy on the road.
After the five-run inning, Berry just could not find a groove while the bats were hot for Sewanee, who had 17 hits on the game and bombed three more homers to aide their lead.
A solo homerun for
Levi Cloud in the seventh put the first run on the board for the Vikings who were down 9-1. It was hard for them to come back after that with only two innings of play left as Sewanee took game one.
The Vikings and Tigers will be back at it tomorrow at 1:00 PM ET. If Sewanee wins, they will advance but Berry hopes to force a game three to follow and keep their SAA dreams alive.
