MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Vikings Baseball (12-2, 1-0) took their first SAA win on their home field over the Colonels of Centre College after receiving votes in the latest D3baseball poll.
A low scoring game with great defensive efforts from both teams put the runs at 2-1 as Berry took the Southern Athletic Association.
Charles Stephenson took the mound and earned the win with his 6.0 innings pitched and giving up one run with two strikeouts, aided by the field all game.
Mason Snyder took over in the top of the ninth to close out the game with the save.
Second baseman
Joey Garcia and right fielder
Nick Brunswick went 2-4 on the game and scored both runs for the Vikings in the midday matchup.Â
Levi Cloud and
Andrew Pendleton are credited for bringing them in with two singles, one being a perfectly laid bunt.
The first run scored by Centre was quickly answered and Berry took the one run lead in the second and held off the Colonels.
