Baseball Earns 20th Win This Season with Defeat of Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. - Berry Baseball (20-8 overall, 7-4 SAA) traveled to take on Hendrix College and came away with two wins to clinch the series during their doubleheader today.

Game One Berry 11 - Hendrix 3

Charles Stephenson claimed his fifth win of the season on the mound for the Vikings pitching seven innings with five hits, three runs, and three strikeouts.

A double in the first inning for Hendrix placed the first run on the board and put a runner in scoring position who would later score off a single for a quick 2-0 lead from the home team.

Berry responded in the second when Garrett Lang's single brought in Levi Cloud, but the Vikings still trailed by one.

The fifth is when things began to open up. Two runs scored off a fielder's choice to give Berry the lead they would never again give up at 3-2.

Four runs on three hits in the sixth boosted the Vikings confidence. At the plate Chase Edmonds showed out going 4-6 with three runs and two RBIs while Joey Garcia competed going 3-4 with three runs.

One run in the sixth for the Warriors would not be enough to make a comeback, with the Vikings having a day at the plate and adding three more runs in the ninth to distance themselves.

Game Two Berry 8 - Hendrix 5

Once again, Hendrix made the first blow, putting a runner across the plate in the first inning.

Nicholas Angelakos still remains undefeated on the mound with a 5-0 record after today's win when he came in relief of starting pitcher Mason Schoonover.

Nick Brunswick's two triples led the team offensively this game with two RBIs, but Alex Knapp led the game for runs batted in with three.

Six runs on six hits at Warrior Field lifted the Vikings back on top in the second inning, with two doubles in the inning, Hendrix could not hold the Vikings.

Up 6-1, Hendrix began to chip away, bringing the game within two in the bottom of the third (6-4).

In the top of the fourth, Berry would score their final two runs after Levi Cloud's single brought in Garcia and Andrew Pendleton's sacrifice fly to center field brought in the eighth run of the game.

Berry will finish the series with Hendrix tomorrow at Warrior Field, game time set for 12:00 PM
