Vikings Football Announces the 2024 Signing Class

MOUNT BERRY, Ga.Tony Kunczewski and Vikings football announce their incoming class for the 2024 season.

Coach Kunczewski says, "We are so excited for the class of 2024. Time will tell, but this group has the makings of being one of the best in Berry football history!

So much credit goes to our assistant coaches doing such a great job building relationships with the student athletes over the last 10+ months.

Our players also play an enormously positive role in this process. Finally our administration deserves a lot of credit navigating the new federal financial aid structure."

Jacob Adams
(G, Clarkesville, Georgia, Hambersham Central High School, 6'2, 260)
Adams joins the Vikings as a Second Team All-Region 8 player and an FCA All-Star. He chose Berry because of its resemblance to home for him. He is the son of Hope and Shane and also enjoys playing the bass guitar, being outdoors, gaming, and he is an Eagle Scout.

Zach Addison
(OL, Acworth, Georgia, North Cobb High School, 6'1, 275)
The son of Marie Cris and Andrew chose Berry because of the home feel when he stepped on campus. He joins the Vikings as a First Team All-Region selection and after earning the captains award. Addison plans to major in Computer Science and enjoys playing videos, training, and lifting weights.

Christian Bell
(OL, Calhoun, Georgia, Calhoun High School, 6'2, 285)
The intended Pre-Law major joins the Vikings because of the rich academic culture and the winning culture that Coach K has established. In his free time, he likes to workout, play golf, and go to church. On the field in high school, he served as a two-time Second team All-Region Player. Bell is the son of Sherry and Ernest.

Dakota Bennett
(DE, Lumpkin, Georgia, Lumpkin County High School, 6'4, 225)
Bennett comes to the Vikings to major in Pre-Physical Therapy after being a two-time All-Star Game selectee and earning 1st Team All-Region as a defensive lineman. His parents are Shannan and Rick, and his other hobbies include playing different sports, video games, and lifting weights.

Weston Bird III
(DL, McDonough, Georgia, Union Grove High School, 6'0, 265)
Bird joins Berry because of the football staff, facilities, and the people. In high school he was a two-time varsity athlete in football and lacrosse while also being a National Honors Society member. He plans to major in Marketing while at Berry.

Abraham Blanco
(OL, Caracas, Venezuela, Mill Creek High School, 6'3, 256)
The son of Johan Blanco and Ely Arriechi comes to Berry for the community, campus, football team, and atmosphere. He can play the piano, saxophone, and also enjoys video games, photography, and videography. On the field he was a Region 7 Honorable Mention, Chattahoochee Team Offensive Awardee, Offensive Lineman of the Year, a 2022 State Champion and a Region 8 All-County Second Team Member. Blanco will major in Mechanical Engineering.

Raymond Bridgeman
(WR, Highland Lakes, Alabama, Chelsea High School, 5'11, 175)
The son of Kristina and Michael showed out on the field and track during his high school career. The National Honor Society member was the Offensive Player of the Week, team captain of both the football and track team, and a two-time 7A Triple Jump Indoor state qualifier, 7A Triple Jump State Finalist, and holds the school record in the triple jump. Besides his two main sports he enjoys finishing, working out, golfing, and hanging out with friends.

Dairaishawn Bryant
(DL, Jacksonville, Georgia, Telfair County High School, 5'10, 288)
The future Engineering major came to Berry after lettering in Football, Wrestling, and Track. The two-time state weightlifting champion, two-time All-Region Defensive lineman, and First team All-Region Disc thrower came to the Vikings because it met all his wants and needs in a college. He is the son of Lakiela and Dairick and enjoys hanging out with his family, mud bugging, and animals.

Sam Carlsen
(OL, Euharlee, Georgia, Woodland High School, 6'3, 276)
The son of Micki and Joe chose Berry because of the beautiful campus, academics, successful football team, and the facilities. He enjoys weightlifting, video games, and music. During his high school season, he was a 2-time first team All-Region tackle/center.

Caden Coffin
(OL, Woodstock, Georgia, Fellowship Christian School, 6'1, 255)
The team captain and four-time Region Champion joins the Vikings because of the education, competitiveness, and team culture. After heading to the final four twice, Coffin earned an All-Region honor. He is the son of Jill and Mike Coffin.

Cam Coleman
(WR, Powdersville, South Carolina, Northgate High School, 6'0, 165)
Cam was an All-Region football and baseball player in high school and a member of the National Honor Society. The son of Tiffany and Montrey chose Berry because of the top tier academics and athletics.

Bradnon Davis
(CB, Dallas, Georgia, Hiram High School, 5'7, 140)
Davis's senior season he was an All-Region Honorable Mention on the field. The soon to be business management major is the son of Lakisha and Brian Davis and chose Berry for the overall fit and the way the football program has been built.

Dylan Davis
(LB, Cary, North Carolina, Middle Creek High School, 6'0, 200)
Davis loved the opportunity Berry provided for him to grow as a person and play football, that is why he chose the Vikings as home. The son of Angie and Justin is a two-time All-Conference linebacker who was named to many honor rolls. Dylan likes video games, reading, and hanging out with friends in his spare time.

The future finance major joins the Vikings because of the community. He is an All-Region standout who also enjoys gaming. He is the son of Kenya and Stanley.

The son of Heather and Mike joins the Vikings because it felt like home. The 2023 All-Region, All-District, All-State, and Region Best Back brings lots of experience to the team.

(S, Calhoun, Georgia, Calhoun High School, 5'10, 180)
Green lettered in baseball, wrestling, and football during his high school career. On the gridiron he was a first team All-Region selection and at the diamond he was an All-Region Honorable Mention. He was involved in high school and a member of two clubs. He is the son of Alice and Greg and plans to be a teacher.

Ty Griffin
(LB, Douglasville, Georgia, Alexander High School, 6'0, 200)
Griffin was named the permanent captain of the Varsity Football Team, 2nd Team All-Region Linebacker, Defensive MVP, Paul Goolsby Scholarship recipient, and a four-time academic player throughout his tenure at Alexander. While getting good grades and being named the Homecoming King, the son of Rhonda and Calvin chose Berry because of the opportunity and passion surrounding the football program. Off the field he also enjoys weightlifting, track, and refereeing youth games.

Brock Gunderson
(LS, Columbus, Georgia, Columbus High School, 5'10, 205)
The soon to be Engineering major joins the Vikings after a three-year varsity stint on his high school team. Gunderson was also a two-year track and field athlete and was an All-Region long snapper. He chose Berry because of the campus and academics. He is the son of Rana and Gene Gunderson.

Jacob Hall
(DL, Cape Coral, Florida, Oasis High School, 6'3, 240)
Hall is the son of Jessica Montgomery and was a Second Team All-Conference player at Cape Coral. He also enjoys photography, painting, and fishing and plans to major in Exercise Science. Jacob chose Berry because he believes it is a place where he can thrive.

Wyatt Halstead
(OL, Ellaville, Georgia, Schley County High School, 6'1, 245)
Halstead is an All-State center, and also lettered in Wrestling and Track and Field. The three-sport athlete ranked 5th in the state in Wrestling and 8th in the state in the discus and shot put. The son of Teresa and Rodney chose Berry because of the atmosphere, it felt like a place where he could evolve. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, bowling, and going to church.

Brayden Hardy
(RB, Rehobeth, Alabama, Rehobeth High School, 5'7, 185)
Hardy chose Berry because of the culture and the home feeling. His parents are Paige and Bryant Hardy. Besides football, Brayden likes to fish and hunt.

Jonah Hatchett
(LB, Bremen, Georgia, Bremen High School, 6'2, 190)
Hatchett joins the Vikings as a 2020 WGMI Rising Star, 2022 Region 6-AAA Iron Man, 2022 All-Gradick Offense, 2023 First Team All-Region and All-State Honorable Mention. He also lettered in Baseball and was an All-Region Player as well as the Times-Georgian Offensive Player of the Year. Besides football and baseball, the son of Jason and Megan likes to hunt, fish, read, play basketball, and play the piano.

Josh Henry
(WR, Warner Robins, Georgia, Houston High School, 5'9, 160)
The soon to be Kinesiology major joins the Vikings after being named the WGXA GameChanger of the Week and the Macon Magazine October Athlete of the Month. The wide receiver is the son of Lexi and Lance Henry and chose Berry because of the academics and football program. He also enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, cooking, fishing, and working out.

Jake Holmes
(TE, McDonough, Georgia, Ola High School, 6'3, 225)
Holmes is a two-time Athlete of the Year and a two-time All-Region 2nd team quarterback. The son of Trisha and Nick joins the Vikings because of the culture and the educational experience. He enjoys playing video games and hanging out with friends in his spare time.
 
Erik Jensen
(LB, Lindale, Georgia, Pepperell High School, 6'1, 220)
Jensen was the Team MVP after being named First Team All-Area, All-Region, and an All-State Honorable Mention. His parents are Catrin and Walter and he also enjoys fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Erik chose to become a Viking because of the chance to better his future.

Grayden Johnson
(WR/DB, Fort-Oglethorpe, Georgia, Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe High School, 5'11, 145)
A recipient of the Golden Helmet Award and the Second Team All-Region selection joins the Vikings because of the home feeling he had on campus and felt from the coaching staff. Johnson is the son of Carrie and Mike and enjoys other athletics like ultimate frisbee, golf, fishing, and baseball.

CJ Jones
(S/DB, Cordele, Georgia, Crisp County High School, 5'10, 170)
CJ was a First Team All-Region selection (x2), Defensive Player of the Week, and Honorable Mention All-State Team. He earned the Highest GPA and was a member of the National Beta Club and Student Council. His parents are Christine and Carjeffery. Off the field he enjoys singing, dancing, going to church, fishing, cleaning, and playing video games.

Luke Jones
(R, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Tuscaloosa Christian School, 5'10, 175)
The son of Dawn and Josh enjoys hunting and fishing along with football. Berry was where he wanted to go from his first visit, and he is sure it is where he wants to be for the next four years. In high school, the senior class president was a Conference Player of the Year, Team Captain, Team MVP, and a Three-time Offensive player of the year.

Jay Kanazawa
(QB, Ellaville, Georgia, Schley County High School, 5'11, 195)
Kanazawa is an outstanding quarterback that brings a wealth of accolades to the Vikings:
This season he was named the Georgia State Player of the Year and has been named the Region 6A Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons. The three-year captain was a five-sport athlete and holds records in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions as well as being in the top 20 All-Time for passing yards in the state of Georgia. The multi-sport star was an All-Region shortstop and an area wrestling champion. His football career was piled with even more awards as he was named twice to the First Team All- State and a three-time All-Region team selectee. Jay is the son of Sam and Jason and chose Berry because it felt like home with special people, he will form lifetime relationships with.

Bryce Kazmierczak
(LB, Macclenny, Florida, Trinity Christian Academy, 6'1, 235)
Kaz plans to pursue a degree in Sports Leadership and Strategy while at Berry after being a three-time Floridia Union All First Coast, Three-time All-News and competing the Hawaii Tiki Bowl American. The son of Jana and Brian joins Berry to pursue a Championship and to get a great education. He also enjoys golfing, fishing, and gaming.

Malaki Knight
(DE, Forsyth, Georgia, Mary Persons, 6'2, 205)
The son of Amy and Darryl bring Championship experience to the Vikings and also a high GPA. He was a two-time All-Region selection and at Berry he plans on majoring in Biology. Knight also enjoys handing out with his friends and family.

Lowe is a three-sport athlete that has All-Region and All-State accolades on the football field. He chose Berry because of the environment and tight knit community. Chris is the son of Aarondia and Beaufort.

(K, Marietta, Georgia, Sprayberry High School, 5'11, 170)
The kicker picked Berry for the people and winning culture after a stand-out year of earning first team All-County, second team All-Region and All-State honorable mention this past season. The son of Rebecca and Rob also likes to lift, game, and hang out with his friends.

Mason Mancini
(WR, Woodstock, Georgia, Etowah High School, 6'0, 175)
Mancini was a part of many clubs throughout his high school career and on the field, he was named the 2023 Team Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Region, 2022 Second Team All-Region, and was the team captain his senior year. He is the son of Holli and Damien and is excited to join the Vikings because of the opportunity to play football and be a part of Viking Fusion to pursue filmmaking.

Lucas Martin
(CB, Concord, Georgia, Flint River Academy, 6'1, 185)
Martin is a football and baseball star. He was named to the All-State team and three times to the All-Region team for baseball and holds selections in the All-State and All-Region teams for football. Berry felt like home for him. The son of Jack and Caroline plans to major in Sports Management.

Mills Morris
(TE, Kennesaw, Georgia, North Cobb Christian, 6'3, 220)
The All-State Offensive lineman joins the Vikings because of the academics and coaching staff. On the field he was a team captain, First Team All-Region player, and received three leadership awards along with two coaches' awards. The son of Allison and Sean also enjoys working out in his free time.

Nelms brings tons of accolades to the Vikings:
2x Cherokee County Super Six Player, 3x Player of the Week, 2023 First Team All-Region 6A Region 6, 2023 First Team All-County (Cherokee County), 2023 Georgia All-State Team Honorable Mention,2022 First Team All-Region 6A Region 6, 2022 First Team All-County (Cherokee County), 2022 Georgia All-State Team Honorable Mention, 2021 First Team All-Region 7A Region 5, 2021 First Team All-County (Cherokee County), 2021 Georgia All-State Team Honorable Mention, 2020 Second Team All-Region 7A Region 5, 2020 All-County Honorable Mention (Cherokee County), Ranked #126 OL in the Country for my Class. Off the field the son of Christa and Jason enjoys xbox, finishing, and golfing.

Newton was an honor student and First Team All-Region, First Team All-Area, and an All-State Honorable Mention. He is the son of Mandy.

Steve Pickett
(CB, Adel, Georgia, Cook High School, 5'9, 165)
Pickett was selected as a future doctor of America and plans to study pre-med while at Berry. On the field he has been named the Newcomer of the Year, Mr. CSRA Football, and holds the Lakeside record for most interceptions in a single game. The first team All-Region receiver played both sides of the ball and on the defensive end was a second team All-Region cornerback.

(WR/RB, Grayson, Georgia, Central Gwinnett High School, 5'8, 165)
Plunkett is a 2020 state champion and a state track competitor. He is a member of his school's student council and likes gaming and working out. He is the son of Laquinta and Nathaniel.

Ryals Puryear
(WR, Gainesville, Georgia, North Hall High School, 5'10, 175)
Puryear is a two-time All-Region first team selection and holds the school record in reception yards and touchdowns for a single season and career. Off the field he likes to golf, play video games, and workout.

Wilson Reagan
(OL, McDonough, Georgia, Eagles Landing Christian Academy, 6'3, 275)
The 2023 All-State Honorable Mention and 1st Team All-Region selection is the son of Heather and Ted. Reagan plans to major in Exercise Science. Off the field Willy enjoys playing golf, photography, water sports, and playing video games.

(Milton, Georgia, Cambridge, 5'11, 170)
The Milton native earned Region Honorable Mention for his efforts on the field and chose Berry because of the opportunities academically and athletically. Richards enjoys drawing, listening to music, and playing Madden or 2K.

Silas Risper
(WR, Macon, Georgia, Westside High School, 5'10, 150)
The scholar athlete is an All-Region selection who plans to major in Physical Education. He is the son of Demetria and Sheddrick and likes to workout with his family. Berry felt like a place where he could become a better person and get a great education.

Dylan Robbins
(OL, Loganville, Georgia, Loganville High School, 6'1, 265)
Robbins is the son of Nancy and Michael who enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf. He chose Berry to pursue his passion of Football and Track while getting a great education. On the field he was a First Team All-Region Player, All-State Honorable mention, and won several state and regional awards for Track and Field.

Carson is a First Team All-County and All-Region player and received honorable mention honors on the All-State team. He is the son of Keely and Jef and chose Berry because of the beautiful campus and coaching staff. Off the field he likes to build RC cars, play video games, and be outdoors.

Vaughn Scusa
(WR, Clemont, Florida, Homeschool, 6'2, 185)
Scusa chose Berry because of the coaching staff, campus, facilities, and the degree. He also likes cars, mountain biking, dirt biking, and soccer. During high school he played soccer and was a two-time All-District team selection and was the Defensive MVP his senior year. He is the son of Lydia and Paul.

Seth Sellers
(OT, Adairsville, Georgia, Adairsville High School, 6'3, 250)
Sellers joins the Vikings as a 2023 first team All-Region selection and a 2022 All-Region honorable mention. He also lettered in Wrestling where he found an area championship and was a state qualifier. Seth is the son of Tammy and Tony Sellers, and he also enjoys playing video games and lifting weights.

Daniel Smith
(OL, Snellville, Georgia, Brookwood High School, 5'11, 250)
Smith is an honor graduate who earned Gwinnett County All-Academic team honors and was an All-Region Honorable mention. He is a recipient of the Great American Rivalry Scholarship and plans to major in dual engineering. The son of Christopher and Jeannie likes to play video games and the tuba.

Ephraim Snyder
(RB, Lagrange, Georgia, Lafayette Christian School, 5'9, 198)
The three time All-State and All-Region running back joins the Vikings from Lagrange, Georgia. As an offensive MVP, he brings a great dynamic to the Vikings offense. He plans to major in Marketing and is the son of Shelly and Daniel.

Dayton Stephens
(OL, Greenville, Georgia, Flint River Academy, 6'3, 273)
Stephens is a two-time All-Region player and earned All-State honorable mention, while earning the highest SAT score in his class. The son of Carl Stephens enjoys finishing and being with his grandparents.

Azion Stinson
(DL, Atlanta, Georgia, Westlake High School, 5'11, 235)
Stinson joins the Vikings because of how welcoming the coaching staff and team were. He believes it is a place where he can excel academically, and he wanted to be a part of the Berry family. On the field he received 7A All-Region honorable mention and off the field he enjoys working out, recording music, and spending time with friends. Stinson is the son of Angela Lavant and Jonah Lavant.

Jaiden Terry
(CB, Villa Rica, Georgia, Villa Rica High School, 5'9, 160)
The Marketing major joins the Vikings after serving as an All-Region, All-County, and MVP player in high school. He is the son of Margo and Brian and chose Berry for the great athletics and academics. In his free time, he enjoys gaming, running, fishing, and designing clothes.

Brooks Thompson
(S, Bogart, Georgia, North Oconee High School, 5'10, 185)
When Thompson first visited Berry, he enjoyed the kindness and the relationship building he saw. The son of Tonya and Brett has two All-Region awards, two All-State awards, and was named the Region Defensive Player of the Year. Off the field he enjoys video games and basketball.

(WR/RB, Lexington, Georgia, Oglethorpe County High School, 6'2, 205)
Turner is in the top ten percent of his class and on the field, he holds the single season Rushing Yard record and the single game touchdown record. He was named the Region 5-A Offensive Player of the Year and enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Vernot comes to Berry with First Team All-County honors and after being named a Georgia Player of the Week. The son of Kerlande Leger and Emmanuel Vernot says being a Viking felt like home to him along with great academics.

The soon to be Engineering major joins the Vikings as an All-Region and All-State selection on the field. He is the son of Amber and Brent and enjoys hunting and fishing.

Jonah joins the Vikings because of the campus environment, coaches, and the team atmosphere. In high school he was an All-Region DB and also enjoys working out, fishing, and playing golf. Wilson plans to major in Business.
