JACKSON, Miss. - Berry Volleyball continued their road venture at Millsaps, taking on the Majors and falling in three.
For the second game in a row, senior
Bella Boston led the charge with eight kills and
Keira Kruk was right behind her with seven, but their offensive efforts matched with
Kate Whittle's eleven digs would not be enough to snatch a set from the Majors after a hard fought battle yesterday.
Set one looked to be in favor of the Vikings with an early 8-4 lead, but Millsaps tied the game at 16 and then took the lead at 18-17. After the lead, the home team found great momentum and was able to hold off the Vikings at 25-23.
In their first matchup on September 28, the Majors were unable to find a set win over Berry, so after the first set they were thrilled and vibrant with energy to take the Vikings down.
In the second set, a back-and-forth affair ended with a 6-0 Majors take over at 12-8, but
Andrea Hurt's ace tied it at 15-15. The battle continued with a kill by Boston taking the one-point advantage (21-20). The Majors rallied off to finish the set with five straight to claim the second set 25-21.
The Vikings ran out of fighting steam in set three with Millsaps holding the lead and slowing inching further and further away until winning the game with a final set score of 25-16.
Berry will be back in action on Wednesday against in-state rival Oglethorpe in Atlanta at 6:30 PM ET.
