Men's Soccer Announces 2020 Newcomers

ROME, Ga. — Berry College head men's soccer coach, Richard Vardy, announced the team's 2020 recruiting class today.

“I am very happy to add these young men to our program,” Vardy said. “This is a very solid group that will address some of our needs and add quality and depth in other areas. They are all great people and understand the hard work and commitment level needed to succeed on and off the field at Berry.”

Jacob Antoine

(F, 5-8, 160, Villa Rica, Ga., Villa Rica)

A standout at Villa Rica High School, Antoine joins Berry after earning a pair of MVP honors and four straight All-Region accolades. He holds school records for goals in a season (31) and goals in a career (86), in addition to the record for most assists in a career. Antoine led his team to the sweet 16 as a junior. He competed on the Georgia Storm 02 National League club team.

The son of Kimberly and Aaron Antoine, Jacob plans to major in biology.

 

Nathan Carlson

(F, 5-10, 145, Dacula Ga., Mill Creek)

Carlson joins Berry after a strong career at Mill Creek High School. He earned Player of the Week honors and competed for the Atlanta Fire 02/01 ECNL club team.

The son of Michelle & Ian Carlson, Nathan plans to major in sports administration.

 

Bear Crystal

(M, 5-11, 150, New Canaan, Conn., St. Luke's School)

A standout from New Canaan, Conn., Crystal joins Berry after claiming numerous honors at St. Luke's School. He earned All-State and team MVP recognition in addition to earning three All-Star honors and a pair of first-team All-Conference accolades. He competed for the Shoreline FC club team.

The son of Jill and Thomas Crystal, Bear plans to major in biochemistry.

 

Grant Houpert

(GK, 6-0, 145, Jacksonville, Ga., Atlantic Coast)

Houpert earned Northeast Florida All-Star recognition during his time at Atlantic Coast. He led the team to a pair of district titles and a conference championship. He competed for the Florida Elite NPL/ECNL club team.

The son of Sarah and Hank Houpert, Grant plans to major in environmental science.

 

Harmon Jeffords

(D, 6-1, 165, Houston, Texas, Tompkins)

Jeffords earned a pair of All-District honors during his career at Tompkins High School. He competed for the Houston Texans Development Academy and the ECNL club programs.

The son of Amy and Jeffrey Jeffords, he plans to major in exercise science. 

 

Logan McCabe

(D, 6-3, 175, Clearwater, Fla. Mitchell)

McCabe joins Berry after earning All-State, All-Conference and Player of the Year honors at Mitchell High School. He led the team to four-straight district titles, advancing to the state semifinals as a senior. He competed for the Tampa Bay United ECNL club team and helped his team to the Florida Cup Championship.

The son of Gina and Thomas McCabe, Logan plans to major in finance.

 

Tracy Moon

(M, 6-0, 155, Cumming, Ga., Forsyth Central)

Moon joins the Vikings after earning All-Region and Student Athlete of the Month honors at Forsyth Central. He helped the team set a school record for wins in a single season and advanced to the round of 16 for the first time in school history. He competed for the UFA 01/02 NPL club team.

The son of Betsy and Tracy Moon, he plans to major in pre-med.

 

José Palacios

(GK, 6-0, 180, Lithia Springs, Ga., Lithia Springs)

Palacios joins Berry after earning All-Region honors at Lithia Springs. He holds school records for clean sheets (20) and saves (172) and led his team to the second round of the state playoffs as a junior. He competed for the Georgia Storm and Smyrna Soccer club teams.

The son of Dianaly Melo and Fidel Palacios, José plans to major in exercise science.

 

TJ Tracy

(M, 5-7, 150, Snellville, Ga., Greater Atlanta Christian)

Tracy earned All-Region honors at Greater Atlanta Christian, leading his team to a pair of region titles. He competed for the GSA 02 SCCL club program.

The son of Shannan and the late Brett Tracy, TJ plans to major in engineering.
