Box Score 2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Berry College volleyball team earned a pair of victories on the opening day of the Christopher Newport Invitational, including a hard-fought 3-2 win over the host No. 23 CNU Captains.
Berry is now 21-3 overall after their wins over CNU and a 3-0 victory over Averett yesterday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Berry earns a dominant straight-set win over Averett in their first match of the day.
- BC won 25-19, 25-8 and 25-12, hitting .277 as a team and holding AU to a -.075 hitting percentage.
- Emily Hancock and Carson VanCampen led the way at the net. Hancock collected 13 kills, four digs and three blocks. VanCampen had 10 kills, hit .625, with seven blocks.
- Against CNU, the sets went back and forth as the Captains took set four to force it to go the distance.
- VanCampen was strong once again, collecting 13 kills.
