Box Score Hammock Pounds 13 Kills as Berry Earns Road Win Thursday
Kiersten Hammock pounded a match high 13 kills to lead Berry to a 25-19, 25-15, 29-27 victory over Faulkner Thursday night in Montgomery, Ala.
The win was the sixth in the past seven matches for the Vikings, who improved to 6-5 overall. It was the first win away from the Cage Center for the young Berry squad that features 10 underclassmen on its 13-player roster.
"Our ball control was solid tonight, and different players stepped up at different times to make big plays," Berry coach Mika Robinson said. "We grew up a lot tonight."
The Vikings' Claire Scott, who became the fourth player in program history to collect 1,000 career digs when she accomplished the feat Tuesday night at Piedmont, led all players with 17 digs Thursday. She was joined in double figures by Kristin Hargrove, who figures to be the next Berry player to reach the 1,000-dig plateau, who picked up 14 against Faulkner.
Hargrove finished Thursday's match with 953 career digs.
Stephanie Quinn dished out 30 assists. Quinn and Scott each sent three services aces over the net.
Seven different Faulkner players recorded three kills apiece to lead the Eagles in that category.
The Vikings return to action Tuesday, when they welcome Shorter to the Cage Center. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
