Berry Outscores Aurora in Final 45 Minutes, But Falls 11-6

Box Score

Berry's men's lacrosse team outscored Aurora over the game's final three periods, but two scoring spurts from Aurora were too much to overcome as the Vikings fell 11-6 in Danville, Ky., Saturday.

Aurora scored six goals in the first nine minutes of the game to take command early.  The Vikings would pull to within 6-2 when Marshall Henderson and Michael Emanuelo scored within 4:38 of each other.  Henderson's goal was the lone scoring play by either team in the second period, and Emanuelo's was the first goal of the third period.

But Aurora would go on another extended run, closing the third period with five consecutive goals during a seven-minute stretch to go up 11-2.

Berry's Bryan Byers, Cal Supik, Andy Kurila and Nat Morey all scored in the fourth quarter, giving Berry a 6-5 scoring advantage over the final 45 minutes.

Emanuelo and Supik each passed for an assist in the fourth period.

Statistically, it was a fairly evenly played game, with Aurora holding a small edge in most categories.  The Spartans outshot Berry 22-18, held a 25-18 advantage in ground balls and won 10-of-18 faceoffs.  Aurora was 18-for-19 in clearing opportunities, while the Vikings were 14-for-18.

Berry goalie Jordan Boreman finished with six saves.

The Vikings are scheduled to return to action April 2 at Ferrum.
