MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - A 6:00 p.m. kickoff accompanied by some good weather at Bob Pearson Field treated the Berry College atmosphere with an entertaining display between the Berry Vikings and the No. 2 Emory Eagles. After a dominating 9-0 win performance against Johnson & Wales (NC), the Vikings were in pursuit of of their fifth win in a row, but unfortunately just fell short to one of the strongest teams in the nation and gave them everything they could handle.
The first half found itself being evenly matched through aggressive battles and altercations. However, in the 27th minute, the Eagles took advantage of a break away and were able to open the scoring to their advantage. The rest of the half continued to be a battle with the Vikings in pursuit of an equalizer, but Emory still led 1-0 at the break.
The first 10 minutes of the second half was dominated by the Eagles, who had multiple chances to expand the lead, but the rest of the half ended up being an even clash once again similar to the first half. Both sides saw their chances and had high levels of intensity. Unfortunately, in the end it was not enough for the Vikings to prevail and the game ended 1-0 in favor of the Eagles.
The Vikings next play at home for the fourth game in a row against the Huntington Hawks in pursuit of their winning ways once again. Kickoff is on Tuesday, September 22 at 5:00 p.m.
