MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Five members of the Berry College volleyball team that made a run to the DIII National Semifinals have been selected to coach and play on the USA D-3 Volleyball team in Brazil.

Rachel Ford have been selected as co Head Coaches of the women's team that will travel to Brazil. They will be joined by seniors
Madie Whitehead,
Keira Kruk and
Andrea Hurt as members of Team USA. Whitehead, Kruk and Hurt were a big reason for the team's run to the DIII Semifinals as Whitehead was named First Team All-SAA, AVCA First Team All-Region, NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team, AVCA First Team All-American and NCAA National Championship All-Tournament team. Kruk meanwhile was named SAA Tournament MVP after leading the Vikings to the SAA Tournament Championship to go with All-SAA Honorable Mention honors. Hurt led the team with 615 digs and was named to the SAA All-Tournament Team and the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.

The USA D-3 Volleyball Teams (WOMEN'S TEAM & MEN'S TEAM) are invited NCAA Division III women's & men's players from across the country.  These teams are comprised of players recognized nationally, Regionally and by their Conferences. The Women's Team is made up of 10 players representing 6 different colleges and universities and coming from 6 different home states. The Men's Team is made up of 10 players representing 7 different colleges and universities and coming from 9 different home states.

The USA D-3 Volleyball Teams tour will run from June 8 through June 17. The teams will begin with orientation in Orlando, Florida on June 8th before the team departs for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The teams will play (Doubleheader) in the cities and clubs visited. The teams are scheduled to play on Wednesday, June 10th and Thursday June 11th in Rio. In Brazil the teams will be a part of an "International Challenge" on Saturday, June 13th at the Marina Barra Clube in Barra Tijuca. The USA teams will play 3 matches each vs. Brazilian teams.

During the team's time in Rio the TEAM will be conducting a youth clinic at the Marina Barra Clube, hosted by Ripper Volei as part of their "social outreach project". This popular outreach opportunity for the USA D-3 Volleyball Teams is already filled to capacity. Â

While in Brazil the team will experience educational, cultural, and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits. In Rio the team will be staying on the world famous Copacabana Beach (location for the 2016 Rio Olympic Beach Volleyball) and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. The team will also visit the popular international market in Ipanema and Ipanema Beach.Â
