MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry College men's lacrosse team began their spring break trip to Virginia with a 21-5 loss to the Washington College Shoremen on Tuesday.
The Shoreman got off to a quick start as they shutout the Vikings 8-0 in the first quarter. The Shoreman continued their momentum into the second as they stretched their lead to 10-0 with 13:17 to go. The Vikings would finally get on the scoreboard at 13:13 as
Michael Beirne scored off a great pass by
Mikey Statham to make it 10-1. The Vikings would get two more goals in the quarter by Caleb Johnson and
Josip Brosovich but they couldn't stop the Shoreman as they trailed 14-3 at halftime.
The Vikings tried to regroup to start the third as
William Lee set up
Finn McClendon on the man advantage to make it 14-4 but the Shoreman answered with four straight goals as they stretched their lead to 18-4 at the end of the third. Once again the Vikings started the quarter strong with a goal by
Collin Dean set up by Beirne to make it 18-5 but that's all they were able to get as they fell 21-5.Â
The Vikings continue action in Virginia as they take on Marymount on Thursday, March 12 at 3:00 PM.
