GREENSBORO, NC – The Vikings faced a tough, scoreless battle against the Greensboro Pride on Sunday. The Vikings tied Methodist University Saturday afternoon, wanting to take home a win on the road in North Carolina against Greensboro.
The first half started off with strong chemistry from the Vikings, while the Pride had trouble maintaining extended possessions. At around the 17-minute mark, junior defender Addofo El Bey created a decent shot attempt against goalkeeper Alvaro Hermosa, creating pressure for the Pride to make something happen in the first half.
Throughout the first half, freshman forward Daniel Osho showed a lot of great promise on the offensive end for the Vikings. The Vikings offense consistently showed off their great chemistry by maintaining lengthy possessions of the ball, while the Pride struggled to find rhythm.
Entering the 2nd half, both teams traded respectable shot attempts. At around 56th minute, junior goalkeeper Cooper Cherry displayed a beautiful save down the stretch. Still tied 0 a piece, both squads were determined to throw something on the board.
As great shot attempts were had by Timothy Ratokhin and Addofo El Bey, the Vikings ended up going scoreless against the Pride. The Vikings offense really shined during the totality of this match.
The Vikings look to get back into the win column as they face off against LeTourneau University in their home opener on Friday, September 12th at 7:00pm.
