CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Berry College women's soccer team took on the Johnson & Wales Wildcats Saturday. The Vikings added on to their impressive start to the year with another dominant victory by a score of 5-0 over Johnson & Wales. They improve to 6-1-1 on the year.
The match opened with both teams trading shots before
Nicole Knight broke through in the 13th minute, giving the Vikings an early edge over the Wildcats with help from
Ide Strickland. Just five minutes later, Strickland found the back of the net herself to extend the lead. By halftime, the Vikings had unleashed 13 shots to the Wildcats' 2, showcasing their offensive dominance.
The Vikings carried their momentum into the second half, with
Giselle Aitken finding the net in the 53rd minute to make it 3-0. Goalkeeper
Lily Osterkamp stepped in after halftime and made two quick saves to preserve the shutout.
Adalee Christenson then sealed the win with back-to-back goals in the 55th and 59th minutes, giving the Vikings a commanding 5-0 advantage they held until the final whistle.
The Vikings are back in action Wednesday, September 24, at Maryville College at 5:00 p.m. The next home game will be the following Monday against Shorter University.
