MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Berry women's soccer team took on the Maryville College Scots Wednesday evening. The Vikings lost a close one by the score of 1-0 to the Scots, snapping their four-game win streak.
The first half for the Vikings was a slow one offensively, compared to the high scoring affairs in the previous games, with four total shots.
Nicole Knight tried to create offense early, creating a shot on goal in the 11th minute, where the Maryville goalie saved the attempt to the bottom left net. The only action came in the 30th minute when Maryville scored to make the game 1-0.
Mia Ries tried to get the offense going for the Vikings early in the second half with two shot attempts that both sailed wide of the goal. The second half went like the first with the Scots controlling the offensive side of the ball with 15 shot attempts compared to the Vikings eight. Knight made a last-minute attempt to tie the game at one with a shot in the 90th minute, where it was saved by the goalkeeper.
Kate Hill finished the game with six saves for the Vikings.
The Vikings start their three-game home stand on Monday where they take on the Shorter University Hawks at 7pm.
