MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Softball finds itself in familiar territory, atop the Southern Athletic Association heading into the conference tournament.
The Vikings enjoy a host of Athlete of the Week honors with a total of eight being earned throughout the course of the season, four of which came from All-American pitcher Hannah Gore.
Led by pitchers Hannah Gore, Ava Fouts, and Casey Holloway, the Vikings have had the luxury of relying on their talented arms defensively. Behind them are infielders, Paige Bennett, Elly Bennett, Katie Parker, Katelyn Boman, Lauren Cothern, Bradynn Belcher, and Kennedy Moody who have been stellar with a fielding percentage that plateaus 95%. Outfielders like Erica Bennett, Ava Fouts, and Brooke Thompson have also been instrumental in the Vikings' top fielding rating in the conference.
In the batter's box, look out for all three Bennetts to make a huge impact. Each member of the trio has surpassed thirty hits on the year, with over twenty extra base hits between them. The unquestioned home run hitters for the Vikings are comprised of the hard-hitting bats of Lauren Cothern and Paige Bennett, who both have multiple home runs on the year.
This year's championships will be held at a neutral site venue, the South Commons Complex in Columbus, Georgia. Berry is set to take on the winner of game either the fourth seeded Hendrix Warriors or the fifth seeded Sewanee Tigers on Thursday May 8 at 5:00 PM ET.
