MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The women's lacrosse team fell at home this afternoon to a new opponent, Buffalo State 20-9.
Preseason All-American
Dani Taraska began the game, scoring in the first 20 seconds of play to give Berry their only lead they would have throughout the afternoon. The first goal sparked something for the away team as they went on a 6-0 run in the first period. Up 6-1 on the Vikings, Taraska secured another goal followed by one more from
Morgan Barton before the end of the first 15 minutes.
The two goals ending the first period were answered by three opening goals to the second period from the Bengals to shoot up 9-3. Before halftime, Taraska would notch her third goal of the game and
Katie Claire Smith would wiz one by to cut the deficit to 11-6.Â
Berry's defense just could not contain the Bengals. Buffalo State went on to repeat their first half with five goals in the third and four in the fourth. Anytime the Vikings tried to ignite offensive momentum, the Bengals answered under the sun in Mount Berry, Georgia.
By the final horn, Taraska's effort of five goals and two assists would not be enough.
The Vikings will be back in action Wednesday March 26 at Valhalla against Augustana at 6:00 PM ET.
