Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Women's Tennis took down the Panthers of BSC in today's SAA Match.

Hitting the road for the first time in nearly a month, the Berry women's team were in high spirits leading into their match versus Birmingham-Southern. Having done extensive doubles drills in preparation for this weekend, the women were able to leverage their skills and knowledge to win all three doubles matches. Saris Mejia / Lacey Craig led the charge at second doubles winning 8-2, followed by Olivia Walton / Angelle Thornton 8-3 at third doubles, and Lauren Masteller / Juliana Mascagni 8-5 at first doubles.

Singles began in the same manner with Sara Majia riding on the momentum of her stellar doubles performance, dropping only one game en route to her victory at third singles. Lacey Craig also made quick work with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at fourth singles, and Juliana Mascagni at second singles pulled away from her opponent to finish 6-1, 6-4. Despite clinching the meet victory, with a 5-0 scoreline, the remaining Birmingham-Southern women fought on as Olivia Walton at fifth singles had to contest a tiebreak, narrowly winning 6-2, 7-6(7-4). However, Angelle Thornton at sixth singles was unable to have the answers to her opponent as she lost 4-6, 1-6. Lauren Masteller at first singles faced a mountain to climb after losing the first set, but was able to rebound well in the second set. Ultimately it came down to a point-by-point situation in the final tiebreak, with Lauren losing the match narrowly 5-7, 6-1, 0-1 (6-10).

The women look to continue their dominant performance tomorrow versus their final season opponent, Millsaps College. If they are victorious, then the Berry women will secure the second seed in next week's conference tournament.
