DANVILLE, Ky. - Berry Women's Lacrosse took down quarterfinal opponent Hendrix to advance to the Conference Semifinals after a 15-5 dominating win.
The game began with Addey Bolz guarding the net for Hendrix and
Ally Washburn defending for Berry.
Abby Sprayberry secured the draw control, setting the tone for the game. The Vikings capitalized on turnovers, with
Maddie Mashburn and
Dani Taraska scoring early goals.
The warriors struggled to maintain possession, resulting in the Vikings extending their lead with goals from Katie Clair Smith and others. Despite their efforts, Berry's solid defense and offensive prowess allowed them to dominate the first period with eight goals.
In the second, Berry continued with their dominance led by Taraska with an early goal to start. Before the half, the Vikings were up 11-0 on their way to an SAA Quarterfinals blowout.
Three quick goals triggered the start of the second half before the Warriors finally found their first goal of the game and starting a run on their way to five goals in the third quarter.
This run did not phase the Vikings as they were still up largely and sitting comfortably heading into the final 15 minutes of play. The team held strong and held off the Warriors to advance to round two of the Southern Athletic Association Championships.
Berry is set to face Centre College on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. The winner of the semifinal game will advance to the conference Championship.
