After yesterday's defeat against Sewanee, the women were eager to prove themselves once again and began doubles versus Centre College today with a bang. Lauren Masteller / Juliana Mascagni and Lacey Craig / Saris Mejia at first and second doubles, respectively, both accelerated their matches with early breaks of serve, securing 8-4 victories. Olivia Walton / Angelle Thornton at third doubles were up against a challenge, facing a 2-5 score. However, they were able to rally off the heels of first and second doubles successes, turning the match around to win in a tiebreak 8-7 (7-3).

With a clean sweep at doubles, the ladies were motivated to continue their brisk pace and Juliana Mascagni set the standard with a clinical 6-1, 6-3 match at second singles. This was followed closely by Saris Mejia at third singles winning 6-3, 6-2 and Lacey Craig at fourth singles performing equally well with great variety and shot selection, winning 6-2, 6-3. Angelle Thornton at sixth singles rode the momentum from turning around her third doubles match, winning 6-2 6-0 while Olivia Walton secured a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory at fifth singles. With the women up 8-0, it was now up to Lauren Masteller at first singles to complete the perfect victory. However, down a set and on serve in the second, she had to muster great courage to push through a tiring match. With the team rallying around her, Lauren won 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 allowing the women a 9-0 sweep. Playing some of their best tennis, the women will look to solidify their spot in the conference during next Saturday's match against Birmingham – Southern College.
