MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Women's Lacrosse captured their tenth win of the 2024 season after defeating Southwestern 22-9.
With a short turnaround from last night's victory, the Vikings came out hot and with the same energy they used to capture their SAA win the night before.
Dani Taraska and
AnnaKate Estock opened up the scoring with goals each assisted by
Abby Sprayberry. A quick 2-0 lead was interrupted by a Pirates goal, but Berry answered and closed out the first quarter on a six to nothing run to capture a 8-1 lead in the first fifteen minutes of play.
The six-goal streak consisted of Taraska landing her third goal and back-to-back goals from Adrienne Van Soelen.
In the second quarter, the teams combined for 12 goals and the Pirates actually outscored the home team 7-5 heading to halftime at a closer margin of 13-8.
The first thirty minutes of play was owned by
Ally Washburn in the goal as she earned the win and was relieved by
Myskina Bolavong in the third and in the fourth, Libby Pitman closed out the game.
Berry was back to themselves in the second half reaching a ten-goal advantage to start the running clock in the third with a goal by
Maddie Mashburn. The Vikings went on to only allow one second half Pirates goal and secure the huge defeat.
Women's lacrosse will be back in action at SAA opponent, Oglethorpe on April 10
th at 6:00 PM ET.
