MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Women's Lacrosse (9-3 overall, 2-1 SAA) defeated the Tigers of Sewanee in tonight's conference matchup 11-7.
The game started off slow tonight at Valhalla with the Tigers taking the first goal on the Vikings home turf, but the teams went back and forth for a tied score of 2-2 at the end of the first with
Haley Larsen notching her first of four goals of the night.
In the second, both offensives continued to struggle as each team was backed by their defense. Sewanee found two early goals, but this time
Katie Claire Smith would be the only one to answer and the Vikings were down 4-3 at the half.
Berry opened up with a huge third quarter! Their energy shifted and they went on a scoring rampage of five goals in 15 minutes, while
Ally Washburn held the Tigers to no goals in the third to boost the team to a 8-4 advantage.
Dani Taraska's back-to-back goals hyped the team in two minutes and surged the home crowd.
The Tigers tried to make a return back into the game in the fourth with three goals, but
Haley Larsen and
Abby Sprayberry answered each goal to hold off the SAA opponent and clinch a home victory.
Berry is back in action tomorrow against Southwestern at 10:00 AM ET.
