ROME, Ga. - In today's home match, the women's tennis team fell to a Division II opponent, Christian Brothers.

The women began their march against Christan Brothers University with a decisive 8-4 win at second doubles by Lacey Craig and Saris Mejia. However, our opponents proved too strong at first and third doubles, with Juliana Mascagni & Lauren Masteller and Olivia Walton & Angelle Thornton

losing 5-8, 3-8, respectively. It was therefore up to the singles players to pull through from a 1-2 match deficit.

Saris Mejia had an outstanding performance today, securing a 6-4, 7-5 victory at second singles after also having at second doubles. However, these would be the only match wins for Berry College today, as Lauren Masteller at first singles and Lacey Craig at third singles lost 4-6, 3-6 and 4-6, 2-6, respectively. Momo Manning at fifth singles and Angelle Thornton at sixth singles also lost 3-6, 2-6 and 1-6, 2-6, respectively. Olivia Walton was the last match to finish as she put on a strong performance to enter a second set tiebreak, but was defeated 4-6, 6-7 (4-7) to end Berry College's day with a 2-7 match record versus Christan Brothers University. The majority of the matches were kept within one or two breaks of service, which give the ladies strong confidence going into their upcoming home match versus Rhodes College on April 6th.
