MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Softball took the series against Centre College in today's SAA game, securing their 20
th win this season (20-3, 5-0 SAA) in today's double header 9-0, 4-2.
Game One Berry 9 - Centre 0
The first game was all Vikings, as they run ruled the Colonels to start off the day.
Freshman pitcher,
Ava Fouts earned her eighth win in the circle this season for the Vikings with four strikeouts across her three innings pitched.
Fouts and
Danielle Sudick combined for no hits and no runs to storm the Colonels.
At the plate, Berry got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with four runs on three hits. With the top of the lineup up, Fouts was walked and
Morgan Frye singled. An error placed Fouts across the plate and
Katie White on base.
Catcher,
Anna Jackson stepped up to the plate for a two-run single and
Lauren Cothern brought Jackson home on a double for the 4-0 lead heading to the fourth.
Three more runs came in the bottom of the fourth off a White double, error, and sacrifice fly.
Up 7-0, the Vikings till held off the Colonels into the bottom of the fifth, just needing one more run to finalize the game early.
Fouts stepped up and hit a two-run single to complete the game in five!
Game Two Berry 4 - Centre 2
Casey Holloway earned her start and win in the circle for game two against the Colonels.
Once again, the scoring began in the bottom of the third for the Vikings. This time it was a
Morgan Frye double to score the leadoff batter,
Ava Fouts.
Anna Jackson would not let the scoring stop there, after
Katie White reached on a single, Jackson hit the second double of the inning and scored two more (3-0).
The Vikings tallied one more run in the bottom of the fourth, and the Colonels tried to answer in the sixth with two runs, but Berry held on to remain undefeated in conference play.
The Vikings will finish the series with Centre tomorrow on Kay Williams Field at 12:00 PM ET.
