Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. - In a tight battle with SAA opponent Oglethorpe, Viking Men's Tennis showed up a with a road win at 5-4!
After a refreshing spring break, the men returned energized and prepared to face their first away conference match against Oglethorpe University. Noah Koch / Diego Lopez and Aiden Benoualid / Jake Chapman won their doubles matches 8-6 and 8-3 at first and third doubles, respectively. Drayton Matus and Bohdan Higley found themselves in a hole 0-7 at second doubles before beginning a strong comeback, but they were unfortunately defeated 4-8.
Entering singles, the Berry men held a 2-1 match lead, but were soon trailing as Noah Koch, Diego Lopez, and Aiden Benoualid lost at first, second, and sixth singles, respectively, in long three set matches. However, Drayton Matus began the comeback with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles, and this was followed by Jake Chapman prevailing at fourth singles with a three set victory. With the match score tied at 4-4, it came down to Jace Goode at fifth singles who managed to fight his way from a first set deficit to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 and to clinch the series 5-4 for Berry College!
