DANVILLE, Ky. - The Vikings suffered their first loss of the season in the first game of the Centre Classic this evening, falling to Hanover 78-67.
Sylvia Kahoro turned up her game tonight, going for 19 with
Kenadie Lee and
Elly Callihan also reaching double digits at 17 and 12.
The Vikings took the first quarter by a storm with Callihan sinking six free-throws and the team combining for 21-points and holding Hanover to 10. The ball was on the right side of the court with things going smooth for Berry.
Hanover picked it up in the second and finally woke up with both teams going back and forth scoring 17 a piece. The quarter was led by three triples from leading scorer Kahoro who also added a jumper for 11 points in the second period. This tie put the Vikings ahead at the half ahead of Hanover by eleven.
The third quarter was all Hanover, scoring 31-points in the 10 minutes of play. They shot 50% from the field and converted 13-points off of Berry turnovers to take the game into the fourth tied at 58.
Berry was falling behind in the fourth, only able to score 9 while Hanover again took 13-points off of Viking turnovers on their way to post 20 points in the quarter and give Berry their first loss this season.
The Vikings return to action tomorrow in the Centre Classic against Maryville College at 1:00 PM ET.
