Fall Season Ends with a Win for Women's Tennis

Box Score ROME, Ga. - The last fall season match against Wallace State was a 6-1 success!

For their last match of the fall season, the ladies took on Wallace State Community College. Due to injuries, the opposing team was only able to field five players, thus giving Berry the win at third doubles and sixth singles. However, they came prepared to play as Lauren Masteller and Saris Mejia at first doubles discovered, narrowly winning 6-4. Lacey Craig and Sophie Gibbs were a new pairing at second doubles, but showed no weaknesses as they routed their opponents 6-0.

Having swept the doubles, the women were only two wins away from clinching the meet. On the heels of their doubles victory, both Lacey Craig and Sophie Gibbs at third and fourth singles, respectively, got off to a strong start and posted identical scores, winning 6-0, 6-1. With Sakura Manning winning 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Lauren Masteller winning 6-2, 6-1 at first singles, it was up to Saris Mejia at second singles to complete the sweep. However, her opponent rallied in the second set and forced it to a 10 point tiebreaker, and Saris narrowly lost 6-2, 1-6, 0-1(5-10).

With a final meet score of 6-1, the ladies have capped a great fall season for Berry College and will continue to improve in the coming months in preparation for the spring season.
