JACKSON, Miss. - Berry Soccer fell in a tough 1-0 battle to the Majors of Millsaps in tonight's SAA matchup.
Despite a strong showing with 14 total shots, including 4 on target, Berry couldn't find the back of the net, while Millsaps capitalized on their limited chances.
The Vikings controlled much of the possession, holding 56% of the ball, and generated multiple opportunities, but Millsaps goalkeeper stood firm, making 3 saves.
The decisive moment came early in the second half when Millsaps scored in the 50th minute.. It was the only goal of the game, and despite Berry's efforts to equalize, they were unable to break through.
Dylan Bloch led the Vikings' attack with 3 shots, but Millsaps' defense blocked or saved multiple attempts, including late efforts from
Lucas Stevenson and Nicholas Hamilton. Berry's goalkeeper,
Cooper Cherry, wasn't called upon to make a save, as Millsaps only had one shot on target, their lone goal.
This loss takes down the only undefeated team left in the conference, now teams will fight for first as the regular season comes to an end.
Berry returns home for senior day next weekend as they close out the regular season against in-state rival, Oglethorpe.
