MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings pulled off a thrilling comeback victory over the Rhodes Lynx, winning 3-2 in a fiercely contested match at Pearson Field this afternoon.
The Vikings showed resilience after being down 2-1 at halftime, rallying in the second half to secure the win.
Rhodes struck first with Max McLarty scoring just six minutes into the game. However, Berry responded in the 29th minute with a well-executed goal from Tracy Moon, assisted by Jensen Brown and Lucas Stevenson, leveling the match at 1-1. Just a minute later, Rhodes regained the lead with Charlie Herring's goal, making it 2-1 at halftime.
The second half belonged to the Vikings. Andy Guzman tied the game at 2-2 with a composed penalty kick in the 71st minute. Then, in the 80th minute, Nate Dulin delivered the decisive blow with an unassisted goal from way out after a free kick was granted from a foul, completing the comeback and sealing the victory for Berry.
Berry outshot Rhodes 11-7 and dominated possession, holding 61% of the ball. Cooper Cherry made two crucial saves to help preserve the lead, while Rhodes goalkeeper Nate Slota, despite his efforts, couldn't prevent the late surge from the Vikings.
Berry returns to action on the road at Millsaps on October 18, game time set for 6:00 PM ET.
