Berry's men's tennis team topped its win total in Southern Athletic Association play from 2022 with a 7-2 victory over Oglethorpe Thursday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
The Vikings improved to 2-1 in SAA play after struggling in 2022 and picking up just one win in the league. The victory was Berry's first over Oglethorpe since the 2018 season and the first at home over the Stormy Petrels since Mar. 6, 2015.
Berry dropped the three doubles points in a win over Millsaps last Sunday, but got off on the right foot today as all three doubles pairings earned wins. In singles play, reigning SAA Singles Player of the Week
Noah Koch was dominant, picking up a straight-sets win while only dropping two games along the way. The other three Berry wins would go three sets, but
Drayton Matus,
Jace Goode, and
Jake Chapman all came out on top to propel the Vikings to victory.
The Vikings (5-3, 2-1) will be back in action at Sewanee Apr. 15.
