Berry's baseball team fell behind before mounting a ninth inning rally, but the Vikings fell in game two of a Southern Athletic Association Baseball Championship Opening Round series at Hendrix, 8-5, Saturday afternoon.
The loss forces a winner take all contest later Saturday to determine which side moves on to the SAA Championship Series. Berry won the first game of the series Friday night to take a lead in the best-of-three.
Down 8-1 entering the ninth, the Vikings put four on the board with two out and forced Hendrix to burn another pitcher before the series finale.
John Poist's single scored
Levi Cloud for the first run, then after a
Nick Brunswick single,
Wesley Wade's double scored both runners and made it 8-4.
Justin Carr sent a single back up the middle to plate Wade and make it 8-5, forcing Hendrix into the pitching change. The move would stop the Berry offensive threat, but the Vikings made things closer heading into the finale.
