Davis Cooke scored four goals as 10 different players found the back of the net for the Vikings as Berry defeated visiting Greensboro, 14-6, Saturday afternoon at Valhalla Stadium in Mt. Berry, Ga.
Tied 1-1 in the first quarter,
Nick English won the faceoff after the Greensboro equalizer and found
Joey Cuthbert for the go-ahead goal to give the Vikings (2-1) the lead for good. Cooke would then score the next three goals in a row as part of a 5-0 Berry run that spanned into the second quarter, putting BC ahead 6-1.
Greensboro would rally, making it 7-5 in the third quarter before the Vikings went on a big run to put the game away. After a save by
Rob Maraski, the Vikings cleared and Cooke connected for his fourth goal of the game to make it 8-5 after 45 minutes. The save and the goal sparked a 7-0 run for the Vikings, with seven different Vikings scoring goals. Berry did not allow a shot on target from Greensboro (1-2) during the run.
Berry had 38 ground balls in the contest, compared to 20 for the guests. English went 16-of-24 on faceoffs in the win.
Berry will be back in action next Saturday at Goucher College in Baltimore, Md.
